Vauxhall: a diamond in the rough?

Every day thousands of passengers pour off the train and tube, cross paths with cyclists, pedestrians and cars, or use one of the 12 bus routes that run through Vauxhall's bleak concrete gyratory.  It is a frantic and dangerous transport intersection, and for many commuters and tourists is the first - and only - impression they get of this eclectic area, that was once marshland, then farmland and home to factory workers during the industrial revolution.
