Rise of the £10m-plus home

The amount spent on homes costing more than £10 million in London so far this year has surpassed last year’s total, despite coronavirus and the impending Brexit deadline.

A total of £1.13 billion was spent on so-called “super prime” property from January to August — 16 per cent higher than the same period last year, even though the number of sales was almost exactly the same. There were 56 super prime sales in the first eight months of this year compared with 57 last year.

This is despite the fact that property prices in London as a whole have dropped as a result of a mass post-lockdown exodus from cities.
