Estate Agencies

DDRE Global, the US-flavoured real estate business set up by ex-Knight Frank agent Daniel Daggers, has brought in a raft of new advisors as its rapid growth continues. Founded less than three years ago, the Marylebone-based firm has already chalked up over £400mn worth of property sales, and now counts a team of 20. The latest recruits include Oliver Ingles, previously in charge of Berkshire Hathaway Homeservices’ Marylebone and Hyde Park branches; investment specialist Richard Lightwing; Oliver Hamilton, who formerly ran his own independent PCL property company; Lauren Christy, from the sales and lettings team at Chestertons; and Rasa Bagdonaviciute, who has spent the last decade in VIP customer services at Mayfair casino, The Palm. Phillippa Dalby-Welsh has replaced Lindsay Cuthill as head of the Savills country house team. Dalby-Welsh joined the firm in 2005, originally starting out at the Fulham office and going on to become joint head of the PCL resi business in 2017. More recently she has been a director in the country house team, covering the markets of South Surrey and Sussex, and joint head of the resi business across the South East. Industry veteran Cuthill joined Savills in 1996 as part of an acquisition of George Stead, and led the country house department since 2012; he is leaving to “pursue his own interests”. Read more

Foxtons stalwart Charles Cutting has moved to Savills, joining the 12-year-old Mayfair office as the big-ticket estate agency branch celebrates a record year in 2022. Cutting has spent the last 12 years with Foxtons, most recently as Operations Director and Sales Manager at the Marylebone and Mayfair offices. Read more

Sian-Louise Tangney has been appointed as the head of Knight Frank’s Battersea and Riverside sales operation in SW London. Tangney joined the agency last year from Douglas & Gordon. Read more

Knight Frank has added to its Middle East Private Office team with a senior hire. Paul Sacco has joined the agency’s super-prime advisory service as associate partner, based in Dubai, and will be working alongside Henry Faun, who spearheads the Middle East operation. Read more

Specialist country house estate agency The Country House Department has recruited Liz McLean as a Director, to cover the Wiltshire, South Oxfordshire, West Berkshire and North Hampshire patch. McLean has spent the last four years with Savills in Berkshire, latterly as Head of Residential in Newbury. Before that, she spent 14 years with Jackson-Stops, where she managed and owned the Newbury consortium/franchise. Read more

Humberts has moved into Oxford, Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds, launching a tenth franchised office. The 180-year-old estate agency brand’s latest outpost is headed up by Jonathan Gregory, who has previously worked for a number of estate agencies in the Oxford area, and done real estate deals in Brighton and Shropshire. Before moving into property (prompted by a move back to the UK, when he took on the renovation of a Grade-II listed 16th century farmhouse in Shropshire), the Durham-educated phD was a pharmaceutical publisher in the USA. Well-known Prime Central London estate agent Charlie Woods has relocated to Jersey with his family, and joined self-employed agency Harding Green as a broker. Woods was previously Head of Lettings at top-end Chelsea firm Russell Simpson, and before that was a Director at JLL and a Partner at W A Ellis. Read more

Winkworth has added a new office in Bristol to its network. The sales and lettings operation in the Bishopston area of the city is the second venture for joint franchisees Matthew Leonard and Lucy McIlroy, who already run the Winkworth office in Bath. The estate agency brand launched two offices in 2022, and has another six on the cards for 2023. Read more

 

Buying Agencies

Toby Downes has joined venerable buying agency Haringtons as a London Specialist. Downes has been in the capital’s prime residential scene since 2006, working in sales for estate agencies Savills, Strutt & Parker and Marsh & Parsons, and before that for property developer Northacre. He left Savills (where he was an Associate Director in the Super-Prime Residential team) in 2021, to join Sandy Mitchell’s property service match-making agency, Redbook. Read more

 

Property Management

Super-prime property management and consultancy firm Rhodium has appointed Kate Donneky as Managing Director. Donneky steps up to the newly-created MD position having been a shareholder in the business since its launch in 2011. She previously worked as a Chartered Surveyor in the management and national investment team for NB Real Estate and Capita Symonds. Read more

 

Property Development

Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey Plc has announced a change of leadership, with former Land Securities CEO Rob Noel taking over the Chair position from former HSBC chief Irene Dorner after the 2023 AGM on 27th April. She’s held the role since early 2020, having been appointed at the end of 2019. Dorner will remain on the Board as a Non-Exec Director. Noel is currently Taylor Wimpey’s Senior Independent Director, having joined as a Non Exec in 2019. He previously ran Land Securities Group for eight years as CEO, was Property Director at Great Portland Estates, and a former President off the British Property Federation, and is also now Chair of Hammerson Plc. Design

The leadership of Conran and Partners has completed a management buy-out of the international design firm. The ownership of the independent business is now shared between longstanding team members Tina Norden, Simon Kincaid, Sebastian Conran, Katy Clarke and Tim Bowder-Ridger, supported by the board members and the London and Hong Kong studio teams. Wiltshire and London-based interior design studio Sims Hilditch has added a new Senior Project Lead to its team. James Flett has been recruited from Conran & Partners, where he was an Associate interior designer since 2018, working on a mix of residential and hospitality projects. He previously worked at top-end design practices Johnson Naylor, 1508 London, and GMW Architects (which was acquired by Scott Brownrigg), racking up some 14 years in the interiors industry. Trade Bodies & Policy

Luxury brand consortium Walpole is moving its headquarters to Chelsea, London. The organisation has teamed up with Cadogan to shift its operations to a three-storey townhouse on Cadogan Gate, which is currently undergoing renovations. Officially launching in the Spring, the new base will house standalone office space, along with a lounge, meeting and event facilities for the exclusive use of members. Read more

Former Crown Estate boss Dame Alison Nimmo has been appointed as Lead Non-Executive Director at Michael Gove’s Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities. Read more

 

Finance

Property lending platform Précis Capital Partners has rebranded to Precede Capital, and significantly bolstered its firepower. Canadian investor QuadReal has acquired a stake in the business and pledged to commit “up to £1bn” to the firm’s development loan book. Read more
